Petronas Gas Pipeline Fire in Putra Heights Incident

Petronas Gas Pipeline Fire in Putra Heights Incident:

On April 1, 2025, a significant fire erupted at a Petronas gas pipeline near Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia, at approximately 8:10 AM local time. The blaze produced flames reaching up to 20 stories high and resulted in a large crater near a residential neighborhood. The incident led to injuries among 145 individuals, including three children; 67 people sustained second and third-degree burns and are receiving treatment in public hospitals, while 37 others sought care from clinics and private hospitals. Additionally, the fire caused damage to 190 houses and 148 vehicles.

In response, Petronas isolated the affected pipeline and temporarily closed three nearby retail stations—PS Putra Heights, PS KM2 LDP, and PS Putra Bestari—as a precautionary measure. The company is collaborating with relevant authorities to ensure the safety of the surrounding community and the environment.

As of now, investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, and a comprehensive root cause analysis (RCA) has not yet been released. Preventive measures will likely be determined and implemented based on the findings of the investigation to prevent similar incidents in the future.
