Role Purpose

The Technical Mechanical Team Leader is responsible for leading the mechanical engineering function within the construction company, overseeing the design, coordination, and execution of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and related infrastructure). This role ensures that all mechanical works are delivered efficiently, meet technical standards, and align with project requirements, timelines, and budgets. Key Accountabilities

  • Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of mechanical engineers and draftsmen. Plan and distribute workloads to meet project deadlines. Conduct performance evaluations and support team development.
  • Mechanical Design & Technical Oversight
  • Oversee the design and review of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems. Ensure all designs comply with local codes, standards, and project specifications. Review calculations, equipment selection, and technical submittals.
  • Project Coordination
  • Coordinate with architectural, structural, and electrical teams to ensure integrated design. Work closely with project managers, contractors, and consultants. Attend design coordination meetings and site progress meetings.
  • Execution & Site Support
  • Provide technical guidance during construction and installation phases. Resolve on-site mechanical issues and ensure proper system implementation. Review shop drawings and as-built drawings.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Implement QA/QC procedures for all mechanical deliverables. Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations. Monitor adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Innovation & Optimization
  • Promote energy-efficient and sustainable mechanical solutions. Apply value engineering to optimize cost and performance. Stay updated with new technologies and industry best practices.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the construction industry.
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, firefighting, and relevant codes.
  • Experience in large-scale or complex construction projects is preferred.
