Duties and Responsibilities
Electrical Design and Engineering
• Develops, reviews, and approves electrical designs, plans, and specifications, ensuring they comply with standards and project requirements.
• Design and maintain PLC-based control systems for rig automation including VFDs, Amphion/Cyber Base, and SCR or equivalent platforms.
• Design and maintain UPS systems, engine controls, and power distribution networks to ensure uninterrupted rig operations • Coordinates with other discipline leads (e.g., Mechanical, HSE, Well Control,) to ensure integrated and efficient project execution.
Project Management
• Manages the electrical project scope, including timeline, budget, and resources, while identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies.
• Monitors that all Project Electrical activities are conducted safely and efficiently in accordance with ADES procedures, contractual requirements, and best industry practice.
• Oversees the ordering of electrical components for projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
• Attends all critical projects activities, to the extent that other operational requirements allow
• Participates in project review meetings to manage and develop installation plan based upon information provided including the following: project installation schedules, personnel requirements, equipment requirements, and contractual requirements.
• Develops comprehensive reports that provide detailed technical information on project progress.
Operational Control
• Assists in implementing and maintaining operational controls such as safe working practices and job hazard analysis as appropriate to specific work tasks.
• Collaborate with drilling teams to ensure electrical integration and functionality of NOV or equivalent drilling equipment.
• Participates in rig inspections/investigations, including electricians, environment, equipment, and QHSE incidents.
• Monitors that the correction process of deficiencies is completed in a timely manner and maintains records and documentation accordingly.
• Leads or supports electrical inspections aligned with rig commissioning and marine class requirements
Safety and Compliance
• Ensures all electrical activities are conducted safely and efficiently, adhering to industry regulations, company policies, and best practices.
• Ensure safety-critical systems (Fire & Gas, ESD) comply with Class survey standards and regulatory codes
• Oversees the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety regulations.
• Develops and implements safety procedures and protocols for electrical operations.
Process Improvement
• Develops and improves department processes and methods to enhance the functions and operations of the electrical controls and commissioning group.
• Promotes innovation and continuous improvement in electrical design and project execution processes.
• Initiates corrective actions to rectify any deviation from approved work procedures and instructions.
Communications and Monitoring Systems:
• Oversee installation and maintenance of vessel communication, tank gauging, and crane monitoring systems.
Stakeholder Management
• Oversees contractors and lead personnel including the power & control technicians and commissioning team to achieve safety schedule, productivity, and quality targets.
• Communicates with Interaction service companies, customers and vendors through the quoting scheduling, cost reviewing, design, assembly, spare part orders and delivery processes, assisting to resolve challenges and questions.
• Collaborates and maintains effective communication with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment and promptly escalates critical rig-related issues to management.
Team Management
• Leads and manages the electrical team, assigning tasks, and providing technical guidance and support to ensure project objectives are achieved.
• Develops and maintain a high-performing electrical team through effective training, coaching, and mentoring.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Extensive experience (8 to 10 Years) in electrical engineering, with a proven track record of leading electrical aspects of major projects.
• Deep understanding of electrical design, power systems, and control systems.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
