Role Description
The incumbent is responsible for managing ocean freight files for exports and imports from order receipt through to shipment or delivery, including daily monitoring of bookings, documentation, and critical deadlines, as well as coordinating with shipping lines, agents, and clients. The incumbent is also expected to resolve complex operational issues, minimize documentation errors, mentor less experienced staff, and escalate issues that impact time, cost, or customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a shipping agency or international freight forwarding company, with solid exposure to import and export (especially sea freight).
- Strong practical knowledge of key shipping documents, including Shipping Instructions, Draft Bill of Lading (Draft BL), and Final Bill of Lading.
- Proven experience coordinating with shipping lines and overseas agents, with the ability to manage critical timelines such as Cut-off and Free Time.
- Demonstrated ability to handle operational issues efficiently, provide professional client communication, and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Good command of English, particularly for daily operations, email communication, and follow-ups.
