The Senior Mechanical Procurement Engineer is responsible for leading end-to-end sourcing and procurement activities, with a strong focus on sheet metal materials and fabrication services. The role ensures the availability of high-quality materials at competitive costs while maintaining alignment with project requirements, timelines, and company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing activities, including identifying, evaluating, and onboarding new suppliers, with a strong focus on sheet metal materials and fabrication services.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and reliable supply.
  • Manage and follow up on all ongoing purchase orders to ensure compliance with agreed terms, specifications, and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to align delivery schedules and ensure smooth receipt and utilization of materials.
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs), Purchase Orders (POs), and Payment Requests (PRs) in line with company procedures.
  • Handle the full procurement cycle from PO creation to delivery follow-up, including issue resolution and escalation when required.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contractual conditions with suppliers to achieve best value for the organization.
  • Prepare detailed commercial and technical comparison sheets to support supplier evaluation and final award decisions.
  • Manage supplier performance and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Handle supplier claims, follow up on discrepancies, and ensure compensation or corrective actions where applicable.
  • Coordinate with the Finance department to ensure timely supplier payments according to agreed terms.
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, cost reduction initiatives, and supplier performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum of 6 years of procurement experience, including at least 4 years specializing in sheet metal sourcing.
  • Strong technical knowledge of sheet metal materials, fabrication processes, and manufacturing standards.
  • Proven experience in supplier management, sourcing strategies, and contract negotiation.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure optimal commercial and technical terms.
  • Excellent understanding of procurement best practices within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • manufacturing sheet metal background is a MUST.
