The Senior Procurement Engineer is responsible for managing strategic sourcing and procurement activities for sheet metal materials, fabrication services, and related manufacturing requirements. The role focuses on supplier development, cost optimization, contract negotiation, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance. The Senior Procurement Engineer works closely with engineering, production, finance, and supply chain teams to support operational and project objectives, drive procurement efficiencies, and build strong supplier partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Lead sourcing activities, including identifying, evaluating, and onboarding new suppliers, with a strong focus on sheet metal materials and fabrication services.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and reliable supply.
- Manage and follow up on all ongoing purchase orders to ensure compliance with agreed terms, specifications, and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with internal departments to align delivery schedules and ensure smooth receipt and utilization of materials.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs), Purchase Orders (POs), and Payment Requests (PRs) in line with company procedures.
- Handle the full procurement cycle from PO creation to delivery follow-up, including issue resolution and escalation when required.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contractual conditions with suppliers to achieve best value for the organization.
- Prepare detailed commercial and technical comparison sheets to support supplier evaluation and final award decisions.
- Manage supplier performance and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.
- Handle supplier claims, follow up on discrepancies, and ensure compensation or corrective actions where applicable.
- Coordinate with the Finance department to ensure timely supplier payments according to agreed terms.
- Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, cost reduction initiatives, and supplier performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred).
- Minimum of 6 years of procurement experience, including at least 4 years specializing in sheet metal sourcing.
- Strong technical knowledge of sheet metal materials, fabrication processes, and manufacturing standards.
- Proven experience in supplier management, sourcing strategies, and contract negotiation.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure optimal commercial and technical terms.
- Excellent understanding of procurement best practices within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Manufacturing sheet metal background is a MUST.
