Job Summary
The Procurement Manager will oversee and manage the procurement process for the two steel factories, ensuring that all materials, equipment, and services are procured in a timely, cost-effective, and efficient manner. The role requires strong vendor management, negotiation skills, and in-depth knowledge of the steel manufacturing industry’s supply chain and materials sourcing. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting production schedules, reducing operational costs, and ensuring that procurement strategies align with the overall business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement Strategy Development
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure an uninterrupted supply of raw materials, equipment, and services required by the factories.
- Regularly assess and modify procurement processes for cost savings, efficiency, and risk mitigation.
- Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and contractors.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to achieve the best quality and cost outcomes.
- Perform regular performance evaluations of suppliers to ensure compliance with quality, delivery, and pricing standards.
- Material Sourcing & Inventory Control
- Oversee the sourcing of key materials including steel, alloys, chemicals, packaging, and other factory supplies.
- Collaborate with production teams to forecast material needs, ensuring timely delivery and stock levels are optimized.
- Manage inventory turnover rates and ensure that overstock or shortages are avoided.
- Purchasing & Order Management
- Ensure that all orders for materials, equipment, and services are placed in alignment with production schedules and factory needs.
- Manage the purchase order process, ensuring accuracy and timely deliveries.
- Cost Management & Budgeting
- Monitor and control procurement budgets across both factories.
- Identify opportunities to reduce procurement costs without compromising quality.
- Prepare cost-benefit analysis reports and present findings to senior management.
- Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify risks associated with supply chain disruptions, material shortages, and price volatility.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.
- Prepare contingency plans to address potential supply chain interruptions.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with factory managers, production planners, and other departments to understand requirements and coordinate procurement efforts.
- Provide procurement updates and progress reports to senior management.
- Oversee procurement team activities, ensuring adherence to processes and timelines.
- Market Analysis
- Continuously monitor global and local steel market trends and conditions to anticipate price fluctuations and adjust procurement plans accordingly.
- Stay updated on innovations and advancements in steel production and supply chain management.
Job Requirements
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CIPM) is a plus.
- Experience
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in a managerial role, ideally within the steel manufacturing or industrial sector.
- Strong background in sourcing raw materials, machinery, and services for manufacturing operations.

- In-depth knowledge of the steel industry, including key suppliers, materials, and market dynamics.
- Excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to secure favorable contracts and pricing agreements.
