Key Accountabilities:
- Perform and implement all custom clearance activities such as following upcoming Shipments, document transactions, and day-to-day related activities in accordance with the objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Participating in the development of the Customs Clearance Section’s work plan and preparing work schedules and expediting workflow to improve the efficiency of the Customs Clearance Section.
- Suggesting plans and programs that strive to improve the effectiveness of the Customs Clearance Section.
- Following up with the operation department and Clients for the reception of a complete set of shipping documents for customs clearance purposes, and ensuring its compliance with Egypt Customs regulations and exemption lists requirements.
- Coordinating with the Clearing Agents and preparing supporting documents required for clearance.
- Confirming the vessel’s arrival time to the Operation department for payment purposes and releasing payment to guarantee the availability of shipping documents prior to the vessel’s arrival.
- Coordinating with the Warehouse to ensure that a copy of shipping documents has been forwarded to the warehouse for proper receiving.
- Follow up shipments and documents with the freight forwarders and shipping lines.
- Following up with the transporter(s) to ensure time & complete delivery of cleared shipments.
- Keeping records of all demur rages, detentions, etc., and following up with the concerned buyers for settlements and implementing preventive actions to avoid customs penalties.
- Track and trace ocean, rail, and trucking shipments daily
- Working with approved freight forwarders, steamship lines, and trucking carriers to determine availability and freight rates
- Following up with the Freight Forwarders, courier, and shipping lines for freight quotations and price lists for Import shipments
- Auditing the Clearance, courier & Freight invoices to be signed by Logistics Manager and sent to the financial dep.
- Update buyer team with container delivery status
- Ensuring timely pick-up of cargo
- Ensuring timely updates or shipment details and updating the system time to meet deadlines
- Forwarding completed shipment details to both internal colleagues and external customers
- Miscellaneous departmental duties such as reconciling billing, documentation, and closing out shipments as needed
Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Business, Business Informatics, Logistics or equivalents
- from 2 to 5 years of Experience.
- Strong attitude toward using basic computer applications (e.g. MS Office).
- Effective communication skills in verbal, written, and presentation areas.
- Proficiency in English.
- Experience with logistics scheduling, trucking coordination, planning, customer service, and/or freight management
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills with the ability to manage and complete multiple tasks accurately and on time
- A commitment to going above and beyond to fulfill client’s needs
- Self-driven with a strong willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of quoting/pricing import shipments including profitability margins
- Knowledge of the MTS system and ACID process
- Good experience in shipping documents and LC reviews.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Flexibility to learn new technologies/applications
