- Negotiate freight and trucking rates and handle costs by communicating with carriers to obtain rate requests if necessary.
- Coordinate with third parties to move cargo by air and ocean in accordance with customer requirements.
- Arrange client invoices and due dates.
- Arrange freight and customs releases.
- Obtain necessary information from carriers, terminals, and other relevant sources to provide superb customer service and inform customers effectively on a daily basis.
- Plan the most appropriate routes for shipments, taking into account cost, transit time, and security of the cargo.
- Follow general guidelines for international trade, handle tasks related to ISF filings, insurance, and other shipment-related duties.
- Maintain involvement with overseas bookings, approve them, and follow up on purchase orders as needed.
- Serve as the ultimate point of contact for customers and guide them through operational flow to ensure that their freight moves efficiently through complex procedures.
- Monitor and coordinate the progress of each shipment daily to ensure that appropriate and timely communication is provided to customers, carriers, and overseas offices regarding any discrepancies, changes, or issues that may affect the shipment or operations.
- Assist with pricing requests from current clients.
- Perform any other duties assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field.
- Experience working in logistics, transportation, or a related field
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
- A deep understanding of international trade regulations and procedures
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
