Dumurages, Detention, Storage & Handling Terms Definitions

Free dumurages : is Free Time determines the number of days a supplier can use the container for free.

Detention free time: is refers to the number of days a shipping line allows a consignee to use the container outside a terminal for free. Once the free time ends, the shipping line will start charging detention charges on a per day basis.

Storage :refer to the payment charged by the port to store containers at the terminal beyond the allotted free days.

Handholding or THC : are fees charged by the shipping terminals for the storage and positioning of containers, The charges usually consist of goods handling, loading /unloading the container, stacking and crane service.
