Responsibilities:
- Oversee customs clearance operations and processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal requirements and local customs regulations.
- Coordinate and work closely with government authorities, customs agents, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and other relevant parties to facilitate customs clearance and transportation procedures.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customs officials and key stakeholders to ensure smooth handling of customs-related matters.
- Stay updated with changes in customs regulations and ensure compliance by keeping the company informed and implementing necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate with internal departments, such as procurement, sales, and logistics, to plan and execute effective transportation strategies.
- Coordinate transportation logistics, including selecting carriers, negotiating rates, and overseeing shipment tracking and delivery.
- Monitor and optimize transportation costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings while maintaining service quality.
- Conduct periodic audits and reviews to assess compliance with customs regulations and implement corrective actions where needed.
- Provide guidance and support to a team of customs clearance and transport personnel, ensuring their training and professional development.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field. Relevant certifications in customs clearance and transportation could be an advantage.
- A valid customs clearance license
- Proven experience in customs clearance operations, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, trade compliance, and international shipping procedures.
- Familiarity with incoterms, import/export documentation, and tariff classifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with various stakeholders and customs authorities effectively.
- Excellent organizational abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Problem-solving skills to address customs-related issues and ensure timely resolutions.
- Proficiency in using customs clearance software and transportation management systems.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative work environment.
